The people in the photos are collecting Italian Wall Lizards. Both Western Green Lacertas and
Wall Lizards are native to parts of Europe and both species became established in Topeka, Kansas after either being set free
or escaping from a pet dealer in the 1950's or early 1960's
Many of the people in the photos are students from Washburn University, Northern Hills Junior High School, and Topeka

WELL AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO JOIN CAN BE FOUND BY CLICKING ON THE KHS LOGO.
The Kansas Herpetological Society (KHS) is a non-profit organization established in 1974 to encourage education, disseminate
scientific information through the facilities of the Society, promote conservation of wildlife in general and of amphibians,
turtles, and reptiles in Kansas in particular, and to achieve closer cooperation and understanding among herpetologists, so
that they may work together in common cause. The KHS is devoted to the science of herpetology, not the art of herpetoculture.
